What does it truly mean to be born again, and what does the new birth have to do with the Church and the Body of Christ?

Pastor Curtis Riley continues our study of the Church by examining one of the most foundational truths of the Christian life: being born again. Jesus told Nicodemus: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3. Being born again is more than changing our behavior, joining a church, or adopting a religion. Through the new birth, we receive new life in Christ and are brought into an entirely new spiritual reality. This teaching connects the new birth with our identity, position, purpose, and place in the Body of Christ. We are not simply individuals who have been saved—we have been joined to Christ and made members of His Body. As we grow in understanding of who we have become in Christ, we can begin living from what God has already accomplished within us.
